Cedar has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Cedar beat Pine View 34-23. Cedar pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Pine View cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cedar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jt Jeter, who picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jeter is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Tredyn Elliott and his 186 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cedar's victory.
Another reason for the win was Cedar's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dahgo Houchen.
Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs entered their tilt with Dixie with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Crimson Cliffs really took it to Dixie for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-14 win at home. The result was nothing new for Crimson Cliffs, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Steele Barben continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 276 yards and four touchdowns. Barben is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Boston Adamson, who picked up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cedar's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Crimson Cliffs, their victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1.
Cedar was dealt a bruising 51-7 loss at the hands of Crimson Cliffs when the teams last played back in September. Can Cedar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
