The Oneida Indians entered their tilt with the Clarkrange Buffaloes with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Oneida managed a 55-49 victory over Clarkrange on Friday. Given Oneida's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Clarkrange is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Clarkrange saw an underclassman step up: Jack Cordell scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds. Cordell scored a full 38.8% of Clarkrange's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lane Byrd was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Oneida pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Clarkrange, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oneida will challenge Gatlinburg-Pittman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clarkrange, they will head out on the road to face off against Van Buren County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
