On Saturday, the Skyline Grizzlies faced the Blackfoot Broncos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Skyline came out on top against Blackfoot by a score of 50-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Skyline.
Shay Shippen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mady Boyce, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Blackfoot's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marlee Pieper, who scored 14 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Capson, who scored eight points.
Skyline's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Blackfoot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.
Skyline will face off against Minico at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Minico focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. Blackfoot does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
