Softball Recap: Englewood Takes a Loss

Englewood was the 9-2 winner over Raines when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Englewood came up short against Raines on Monday, falling 23-10. Even though they lost, the Rams' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Skyly Hyers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Mills, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Englewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Englewood is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Raines, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Englewood and Raines will both be playing Riverside the next time they take the field. Raines will host Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Englewood will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
