Central Cambria is 0-10 against Greater Johnstown since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Cambria Red Devils will be playing at home against the Greater Johnstown Trojans at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Central Cambria fought the good fight in their overtime game against Hollidaysburg on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Tigers. While losing is never fun, Central Cambria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Hollidaysburg is ranked 113th).
Central Cambria's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Swope, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds, and Grady Snyder who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Snyder is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last four games he's played. Jack Muldoon was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Greater Johnstown stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Bishop McCort with a sharp 67-47 win.
This is the second loss in a row for Central Cambria and nudges their season record down to 8-10. As for Greater Johnstown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Central Cambria was dealt a bruising 88-43 defeat at the hands of Greater Johnstown when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greater Johnstown's Donte Tisinger, who scored 54 points.
