The West Hall Spartans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lumpkin County, falling 42-7. West Hall was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Despite the loss, West Hall still got an impressive performance from Elijiah Hayes, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
Lumpkin County was led to victory by Cal Faulkner and Mason Sullens. Faulkner threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, while Sullens rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Sullens has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played.
West Hall's defeat was their fourth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for Lumpkin County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
West Hall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lumpkin County will be playing in front of their home fans against Gordon Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gordon Lee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Lumpkin County is ranked 95th).
