Volleyball Recap: West Carteret Starts Season with Victory Against East Carteret

West Carteret had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the East Carteret Mariners on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mariners, too.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-18.

Saylor Cottrell paced West Carteret's offense, picking up six kills. Cottrell got some help from Ella-Grace Rodriguez and her 12 assists. Molly Scott Cottrell controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

East Carteret's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Carteret will venture away from home to challenge Laney at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Carteret, they will take on Havelock at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
