Baseball Game Preview: Mize Bulldogs vs. Magee Trojans

The Mize Bulldogs will challenge the Magee Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mize was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over Lamar Christian. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Garrison Carrell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Himmel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Magee owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Mendenhall.

Jeremiah Cole was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Akavion Griffith, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Magee now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mize, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Mize might still be hurting after the 13-7 defeat they got from Magee in their previous meeting back in April of 2017. Can Mize avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
