The Otis Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Caliche. If Otis hoped to take revenge for the 47-24 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Otis lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lydia Willeke, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Willeke has scored all season. Madelyn Willeke was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Caliche's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karsyn Huss led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five assists and two steals. Huss hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ava Hernandez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Otis' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Caliche, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Otis won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Weldon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Caliche, they will head out on the road to take on Akron at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
