The Sunlake Seahawks pushed their score all the way to 72 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mitchell 77-72. Sunlake has not had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Sunlake still got an impressive performance from Christopher Murray, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Murray continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nelson Marshall was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Sunlake's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunlake will play host again and welcome the Hornets, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weeki Wachee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 597th, while the Seahawks are ranked 252nd). As for Mitchell, they and the Bears will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
