The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Falls Lake Firebirds at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cedar Ridge gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Southern Alamance. The win was nothing new for the Fighting Red Wolves as they're now sitting on four straight.

Kimber Shambley and Brittani Goddard did most of the damage at the plate: Shambley went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Goddard went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Goddard a new career-high. Raegan Remaly was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Cedar Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Falls Lake). Everything went their way against Franklin Academy on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Firebirds have won by exactly 11 runs.
Wynterlee Glenn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She also put up four hits, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolie Sensenig, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-6. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Khole Massengill, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
The win (which was Falls Lake's third in a row) raised their record to 7-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Cedar Ridge, their record now sits at 9-5.
Cedar Ridge suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Falls Lake in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Fighting Red Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
