Forge Christian extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 14-3. They put the hurt on the Westminster Wolves with a sharp 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Fury, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Julianna Alfaro made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maxine Rossi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rio Beck, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Forge Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.
As for Westminster, they now have a losing record of 8-9. They haven't had much luck with Forge Christian recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
On Westminster's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaleesa Talmich Martinez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Looking ahead, Forge Christian will take on Arvada at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fury 3.4, the Bulldogs 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Westminster, they will challenge Mountain Range at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
