Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emery Liddick, who went 8-for-16 en route to 21 points and four steals. That's the most steals Liddick has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Wilcox, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 19 points and five boards.
Southwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only three assists.
Meanwhile, Eastbrook waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 48-44 W against the Indians.
Eastbrook's win came from a few key players Southwood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayden Younce, who had 16 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malakai Luthy, who earned seven points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Eastbrook pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Southwood, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southwood has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Eastbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southwood strolled past Eastbrook in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 71-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Younce, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points and six boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Southwood still be able to contain Younce? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
