Kenesaw has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Axtell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kenesaw will be strutting in after a victory while Axtell will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Kenesaw didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Silver Lake, but they still walked away with a 36-32 win.
Bentley Olson was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 13 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Ashlyn Hess was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Axtell came up short against Ansley/Litchfield on Thursday and fell 36-26.
Despite their defeat, Axtell saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cadie Nickel, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all.
The victory got Kenesaw back to even at 3-3. As for Axtell, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kenesaw have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Axtell, though, as they've been averaging only 26.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Kenesaw came up short against Axtell in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 37-24. Thankfully for Kenesaw, Lexie Eckhoff (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
