Miller had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it four. They came up short against the Millersport Lakers, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 back in April.
Ryley Siemer put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. Siemer was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
As for Millersport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
Like Miller, Millersport also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendyl Bonkowski. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Bonkowski has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Millersport let Ava Blevins and Macey Buckholz run wild. Blevins went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Buckholz went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Buckholz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Terry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Miller does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millersport, they will challenge Madison Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.6 runs per game this season.
