The Geneva Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Forest Scouts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Geneva had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-8 victory over Senn at home. Given Geneva's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Senn is ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Geneva got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Finnegan Weppner out in front who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Dominic DiLeonardi was in the mix as well, providing Geneva with two touchdowns.
Lake Forest fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Lake View, posting a 49-6 victory on the road. Lake Forest pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Lake View cut but never quite recovered from.
Their wins bumped Geneva to 8-2 and Lake Forest to 6-4.
