The South Davidson Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Stanly. While losing is never fun, South Davidson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while North Stanly is ranked 166th).
When it comes to explaining why South Davidson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Delattre. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points. The contest was Delattre's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Walters, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
South Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for North Stanly, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Davidson will take on Anson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Anson's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Stanly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
