After flying high against the Los Molinos Bulldogs on Thursday, the Orland Trojans came back down to earth. Orland opened the new year with a less-than-successful 58-45 loss to Las Plumas. Orland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Las Plumas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Orland's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Dominick Bose and Zach Story. Bose scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, while Story scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Story's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Khalil Coley was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Las Plumas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but T.J. Thompson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Thompson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Soria, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Orland's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Las Plumas, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Orland and Anderson will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Anderson is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Las Plumas and Corning will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Corning focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
