It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-24 victory over Destiny Christian. Considering Sunrise Christian Academy has won eight games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Sunrise Christian Academy to victory were Cleve Sutherland and Wade Keller. Sutherland picked up 241 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Keller threw for 371 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Sutherland was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Darren Allison, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Sunrise Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Jonah Keller was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zachary Maturey, who rushed for 101 yards on only eight carries. Maturey has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Anglin, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.
The win (which was Sunrise Christian Academy's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Destiny Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Sunrise Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Destiny Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
