Basketball Recap: Livingston Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jayshaan Bains and Adrian Aguirre

Livingston lost against Sonora back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Livingston Wolves came up short against the Sonora Wildcats, falling 78-57. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly 21 points.

Adrian Aguirre and Jayshaan Bains certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Aguirre posted 23 points and six steals, while Bains went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points. Aguirre is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Aguilar-Briones, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Livingston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sonora got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Otterson out in front who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Wright, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Livingston and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Sonora, they moved to 9-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Livingston and Ceres will meet in a canine-themed contest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ceres is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. As for Sonora, they will head out to take on Escalon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
