The Millard North Mustangs waltzed into their contest Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They ended the year with a bang, routing Marian 71-46. The result was nothing new for Millard North, who have now won four matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Millard North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylee Mclucas, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mclucas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avril Smith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Elsa Vedral and Mckenna Stover certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Vedral scored 12 points along with three steals, while Stover scored nine points along with four steals. The match was Vedral's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Ava Bruggeman was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Millard North's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Marian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Millard North and Millard West will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Millard West has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 529 points over their last eight matchups. Marian and Bellevue East will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bellevue East will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
