The West Ottawa Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Caledonia, falling 82-50. While losing is never fun, West Ottawa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 109th).
Leading Caledonia to victory were Laul Abiel and Jaiden Googins. Abiel scored 18 points, while Googins scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abiel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Corbin Raffler, who scored six points along with three steals.
West Ottawa has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Caledonia, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
West Ottawa will be playing at home against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Kentwood is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Caledonia, they will take on the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
