Baseball Recap: Walkertown Wins Going Away Against Lexington

While Walkertown put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Lexington. Walkertown put the hurt on Lexington with a sharp 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Caden Joyce made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Manny Morales was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. David Olmedo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Walkertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted an OBP of .300.

The victory made it two in a row for Walkertown and bumps their season record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Lexington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walkertown will head out to take on McMichael at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lexington, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs Lexington Yellowjackets take on Western Guilford Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Guilford has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something Lexington will no doubt try to take advantage of.
