The Hooper Academy Colts entered their tilt with the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Hooper Academy took down Macon-East Montgomery Academy 59-42 on Thursday. Given Hooper Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Macon-East Montgomery Academy saw an underclassman step up: Omarion Wilson scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Roney, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Hooper Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hooper Academy will challenge Crenshaw Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Glenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
