The Carey Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Colonel Crawford Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carey will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Carey had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Wynford on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Royals.
Carey walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.
Colonel Crawford hadn't beaten Bucyrus on the road since September 1, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Redmen. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Colonel Crawford had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-14.
Carey's record is now 15-5. As for Colonel Crawford, their record now sits at 14-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Carey has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Colonel Crawford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Carey beat Colonel Crawford 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
