Basketball Recap: Macarthur Skates Past Southwest with Ease

There's no place like home for MacArthur, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Southwest Dragons 56-27 on Tuesday. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.

MacArthur was led to victory by Faith Thomas and Zion Zarb-Cousin. Thomas went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Zarb-Cousin posted 12 points and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Thomas has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lee, who had nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

MacArthur's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.1 points. As for Southwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

MacArthur will face off against Jay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jay will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something MacArthur surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harlandale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlandale has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three games.
