The Perkins Pirates will head out to face off against the Firelands Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Perkins will be strutting in after a victory while Firelands will be coming in after a loss.
Perkins will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against South Central on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Trojans. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.
Perkins got a great performance from Maycee Bohn as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Hannah Koelsch was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Martin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Perkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Central only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Firelands came up short against Norwalk on Friday and fell 7-4.
Jeanette Crawford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Aubrynn Reichle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Perkins has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Firelands, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perkins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Firelands struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Perkins' way against Firelands in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Perkins made off with a 16-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
