The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Willow Spring in their matchups with Clayton: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Willow Spring had strong showings from Xavion Terrell, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Grant Overman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Terrell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Solomon, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Clayton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Anthony Walters was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Willow Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Clayton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willow Spring will face off against Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
