After flying high against the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen last Friday, The Somerset Bulldogs came back down to earth. Somerset ended up on the wrong side of a tough 31-7 walloping at the hands of Boerne on Friday. Somerset has struggled against Boerne recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Thomas (t.j.) Dement was a one-man wrecking crew for Boerne as he rushed for 213 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Dement's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Hutson Hendrix was in the mix as well, providing Boerne with three touchdowns.
Boerne's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Somerset's QB won't forget Braden Bays anytime soon given Bays sacked him four times.
Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Boerne, their victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Somerset will take on Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Uvalde is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Boerne, they will head out on the road to face off against Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredericksburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Boerne is ranked 219th).
