Nobody could stop Ila Gillespie on Monday as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her third in a row with more than seven strikeouts. For the year, she has been strong no matter where she plays. On the mound, she has an ERA of 3.75 over 18.7 innings pitched. Meanwhile, at bat she has slashed 0.786/0.733/1.143 with 8 RBI.

Coming up, Gillespie and Acton-Boxborough will be playing at home against Westford Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gillespie has dominated as far as strikeouts are concerned (she's averaged 5.5 per game this season), but she's got her work cut out for her considering the Grey Ghosts have only allowed three per game this season.
