Foothill extended their winning streak to ten on Thursday, bumping them up to 12-8. They came out on top against the Trabuco Hills Mustangs by a score of 10-5. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 14-9 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bianca Casella looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Foothill let Brooklyn Austin and Avery Victer run wild. Austin went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Victer went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Austin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gigi Felizzari, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Foothill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trabuco Hills struck out six times.
As for Trabuco Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.
On Trabuco Hills' side, they got a good showing from Jocelynn Stock, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Stock gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Kayla Phan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Saleen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Looking ahead, Foothill will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Troy at 3:15 p.m. As for Trabuco Hills, they will challenge Beckman at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
