The Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They snuck past Faith Christian with a 48-43 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Roanoke Valley Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Roanoke Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremy Chou led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Chou is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Phillips, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Faith Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaron Ridge, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Burton, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Roanoke Valley Christian pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roanoke Valley Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dayspring Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. Dayspring Christian Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Faith Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Boys' Home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
