The Hollins Royals will be playing at home against the Osceola Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Hollins pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Countryside by a score of 59-57. Hollins has not had much luck with Countryside recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Malachi Miller and Corey Perlin. Perlin had a solid game and scored 16 points along with two steals. Meanwhile, Miller was balling out in the loss, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Osceola's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of St. Petersburg by a score of 46-44. While losing is never fun, Osceola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while St. Petersburg is ranked 153rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Hayden Hundt, who scored 13 points. Eleven Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Hollins has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Osceola, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Hollins hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 62.8 points per game. It's a different story for Osceola, though, as they've been averaging only 53.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Hollins lost to Osceola at home by a decisive 50-32 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Hollins, Cole Eeten (who scored 17 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
