Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop McNamara, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Marian Central Catholic on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fightin' Irish considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Colin Downs tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jacob Lotz and Max Rohr did most of the damage at the plate: Lotz went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Rohr scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Rohr a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Devin Arbour, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bishop McNamara was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Bishop McNamara has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Wheaton Academy, their record now sits at 7-8.
Wheaton Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop McNamara when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fightin' Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
