Softball Recap: Negaunee Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Negaunee extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 10-5. They never let the Jeffers Jets get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Miners have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Jeffers, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For Jeffers' part, Janet Mattila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Negaunee will challenge Kingsford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jeffers, they will square off against Ishpeming at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
