Brody Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dylan Turner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Hayden Barrett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
McCann Tech hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Greylock Regional struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, while Lenox Memorial put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Mahar Regional. The Millionaires blew past the Senators 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Millionaires, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Seamus Cooney and David Kirchner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cooney tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kirchner tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cooney also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lenox Memorial is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Cooney went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Kirchner went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robbie Bazinet, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lenox Memorial's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brady DiGrigoli, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lenox Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for McCann Tech, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
McCann Tech couldn't quite finish off Lenox Memorial when the teams last played on April 1st and fell 3-1. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
