The Hollywood Sheiks had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They didn't even let Mendez onto the board and left with a 26-0 win. The result was nothing new for Hollywood, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Di Vinci Guthrie went supernova for Hollywood, rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Da?Mareae Landry was another key contributor, rushing for 152 yards on only 11 carries.
Hollywood's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mendez, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Hollywood will be playing in front of their home fans against Bernstein at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bernstein knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Hollywood likes a good challenge. Mendez is on the road again on Friday and play against Belmont at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Belmont comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
