The Martin County Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on North Lenoir with a sharp 78-58 win. Martin County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
Martin County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Matthewson, who scored 23 points. The game was Matthewson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvon Lee, who scored 18 points.
The win got Martin County back to even at 5-5. As for North Lenoir, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
Martin County will head out on the road to face off against Gates County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gates County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for North Lenoir, they will look to defend their home court on January 5, 2024 against Southwest Onslow at 8:00 p.m.
