Evansville is 0-10 against Turner since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Evansville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Evansville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Edgerton by a score of 4-0. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Crimson Tide recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Summer Larson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Maves was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Turner earned a 5-2 victory over Clinton on Tuesday.
Olyvia Piranio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Maddy Hoenig was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run. Jayla Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Turner's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Evansville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Evansville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Turner struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Evansville might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Turner in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
