St. Mary is 8-2 against Severn School since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Saints will welcome the Admirals at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary's will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
St. Mary's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Mount St. Joseph, who was ranked 14th at the time (St. Mary's was ranked 12th). The Saints came out on top against the Gaels by a score of 20-7 on Saturday.
St. Mary's can attribute much of their success to Jamal Epps, who rushed for 60 yards and a pair of TDs.
St. Mary's didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Thomas Will, Dominic Scali, and Anai Day picked up one apiece. Scali got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Severn School beat Our Lady of Mount Carmel 28-15 on Friday.
Severn School's win came from a few key players St. Mary's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ty Bussard, who threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes. Severn School is 3-1 when Bussard posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Fowler, who rushed for 144 yards on only five carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Severn School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 385 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-5. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
