The Calusa Prep Colts had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 76-56 margin over Horeb Christian. Given Calusa Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Horeb Christian is ranked 781st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jonathan Gonzalez and Jeremiah Wilson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Gonzalez scored 17 points, while Wilson scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ifeanyi Ezeala, who scored nine points.
Calusa Prep's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Horeb Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Calusa Prep will be playing at home against ABF Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Calusa Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully ABF Academy likes a good challenge. Horeb Christian is on the road again on Monday and plays Doctors Charter at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th.
