Start was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Woodward on Monday. The Spartans blew past the Polar Bears 18-1. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Start got a massive performance out of Lucas Buck, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Buck a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Creecy, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Start is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Woodward, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
