The Lamar Raiders waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Wayne Academy on the road to the tune of 62-25. That's another feather in the cap for Lamar, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Lamar to victory were Aryah Grace and Blake Hart. Grace scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Hart almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. Hart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Sarah Dudley Reed was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks.
Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. As for Wayne Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.
Lamar will take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Rankin Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raiders in Mississippi (the Patriots are ranked 19th, while the Raiders are ranked 76th). Wayne Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
