The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Can't Touch This
St. Anthony's got a 42 - 14 win over Chaminade last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Greg Campisi. Campisi ran for 130 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Campisi among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between St. Peter's Prep (1st in the power rankings) and Bergen Catholic (2nd) shaped up to be more of a takedown. St. Peter's Prep had all the answers against Bergen Catholic, winning 34 - 7. One major factor in the victory was the play of senior Maasai Maynor, who threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns.
Movin on Up
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 217-yard edge over your opponent, and Paramus had just that last week. It breezed past Pascack Valley with a final score of 48 - 14. One of the main ringleaders for Paramus was junior Kyle Jacob, who earned three touchdowns and 168 yards rushing the ball. Paramus's success was rewarded with a 36-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Darien (14th in the power rankings) and St. Joseph (4th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both St. Joseph and Darien put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they play one another this week.
