The Aztec Tigers lost to the Taos Tigers back in January of 2023, but the Aztec Tigers didn't allow the Taos Tigers the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Aztec came out on top against Taos by a score of 27-18. The win made it back-to-back wins for Aztec.
Leading Aztec to victory were Nika Mckenzie and Jazzlyn Gomez. Mckenzie scored 12 points along with two steals, while Gomez scored five points along with six steals. Gomez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Aztec has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Taos, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-11.
Aztec will head out on the road to challenge Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Taos, they will be playing at home against Bloomfield at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Taos in New Mexico (Bloomfield is ranked 16th, while Taos is ranked 101st).
