The Bishop Moore Hornets had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against ED White on Friday as Bishop Moore made off with a 42-22 win. Winning may never get old, but Bishop Moore sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Bishop Moore was led to victory by Ladainian Sweeney and Bjorn Jurgensen. Sweeney rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, while Jurgensen rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Jurgensen was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
Bishop Moore's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. It was a group effort, with four guys contributing.
Despite the loss, ED White still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Pettway, who threw for 290 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Darien Hookfin was another key contributor, rushing for 90 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Bishop Moore's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for ED White, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Bishop Moore will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. ED White does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
