The Juab Wasps will head out on the road to take on the Carbon Dinos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Juab has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 7th.
Juab is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 23-15 to Richfield on Thursday. Even if the Wasps couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Mollie Blankenagel was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Delaney Long also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Blankenagel wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Juab kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Carbon made easy work of Canyon View on Thursday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Dinos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.
Danica Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aleece Ardohain, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kennlee Kennedy, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Carbon and bumps their season record up to 3-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Juab, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Juab might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Carbon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Juab avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
