The Aquinas Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 49-42 to St. Francis. Aquinas has not had much luck with St. Francis recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Aquinas' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryant Stouffer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Stouffer is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dillon Bohuslavsky, who scored six points along with four steals.
Aquinas' lineup was just a bit different on Tuesday as Bohuslavsky got a bit more time on the court (20 vs. his season average of 8.83). Bohuslavsky made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points along with four steals. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Aquinas' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11. As for St. Francis, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Aquinas will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to face off against Nebraska Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Nebraska Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
