The North Moore Mustangs will take on the Eastern Randolph Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
North Moore made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Northwood, but they still couldn't quite topple them. North Moore put the hurt on Northwood with a sharp 10-1 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
Dawson Futrell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Futrell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, North Moore got a massive performance out of Bradley Creek, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Michael Swarms, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Eastern Randolph put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Anson 15-5. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like North Moore, Eastern Randolph also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucas Smith. On the mound, Smith struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Chance Holdaway pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Smith has posted since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Smith scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Holdaway got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Maddox Dunn was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bryson Marley was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Eastern Randolph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .579 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Eastern Randolph pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for North Moore, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
