II Section I recap October 22, 2013
Sunnyslope added to the longest winning streak in II Section I this week by beating Camelback, 45-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Vikings.
Fairfax took down Browne 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Tino Vidales had a great week catching the football as St. Mary's bested Carl Hayden Community. He caught 10 passes for 284 yards.
Gabe Losada threw for 480 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was 21-30 with 0 interceptions.
Losada put up the best numbers through the air as the Knights beat the Falcons. Losada's favorite target this week was Vidales, who caught 10 passes for 284 yards.
St. Mary's' Losada and Vidales have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Losada has thrown for 2,882 yards this season, while Vidales has 52 catches for 968 yards. The Stampede's Brandon Sellers leads the league in rushing yards with 1,102.
Tim Fryson of the Sunnyslope is only 61 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 106 carries Fryson has accumulated 939 yard this year.
Todd Williamson's team's Vidales is only 32 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Bruins. So far this year, he has garnered 52 catches for 968 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when La Joya Community takes on Tolleson. As it stands, the Fighting Lobos are in fourth, while the Wolverines are in second.
Tolleson and Agua Fria played the closest game in II Section I this week, with Tolleson eventually emerging with a 36-35 victory. Kenneth Steele ran for 171 yards and caught 1 pass for 37 yards during the win.
